The Show: East meets West in this mashup of stand up comedy, electric violin, rock n’ roll,  spoken word and characters from iconic New York comedy and music duo Slanty Eyed Mama.  It’s about race and represent-Asian: identity politics, bowl cuts, Chinatown, nail salon paradoxes, Hello Kitty hats, gay pokemons, math nerds, street vendors, those gold cats with waving arms.  Meet a 40 year old Asian cheerleader, a ten thousand year old performance artist in a laundry mat, a race-undertermined / age-unknown subway vendor with big dreams under her umbrella-hat.

Music is by Slanty Eyed Mama A rock n’ roll spoken word duo featuring electric violin, samples and beats by Juilliard virtuoso Lyris Hung and comedic, political, lyrical wordplay from one of new york’s most celebrated solo performers (and fellow Juilliard graduate) Kate Rigg. They are two good Asian girls gone bad-assed.

This show features songs like “MODEL MINORITY”, “WHITE GIRL PROBLEMS”, “BOWL CUT BLUES” and “THE HELLO KITTY SONG”. Their previous comedy music show “Birth of a nASIAN” was invited to the Smithsonian Institute and shot for Comedy Central’s online portal. They have been seen on PBS, Comedy Central, Pacific Time TV, LA Grand Performances and now in the movie version of Happy Lucky Golden Tofu Panda Dragon Good Time Fun Fun Show is on the festival circuit in 2016 for general release in 2017. www.slantyeyedmama.com

Kate Rigg: Also the writer-creator cult hit “Kate’s Chinkorama featuring the chinkorama dancers”.  Did 2 seasons on the Dr. Phil Show as a comedy correspondent.  Club stand-up comic. Actor about town (Atlantic Theater Co, The Public, MTC, NYTW etc.) Award winning playwright. Voices on Fox’s Family Guy. Creator of the TV shows “Dance Your Ass Off” for Oxygen TV and “Cache Craze for Disney XD. Comedian at clubs and Just for Laughs Montreal, Vancouver Comedy Fest, Showtime, Comedy Central, PBS. Lyris Hung  Studied violin from the age of 3. Has a B.A. in Anthropology and Music from Columbia and an M.M. in Violin Performance from Juilliard. Started a death metal band called Hung.
