Well we’re back! And back with a vengeance committed to raising funds for small queer charities across Canada.
The festival kicks off with it’s big ticket gala at the Tarragon Theatre on Wednesday June 12 at 7:30 pm. This year’s “Gayla Gala” is a 90 minute fast-paced variety show featuring festival talent and loads of Canada’s favourite personalities. We’re celebrating performance of all kind so, as is the case with all of our galas, you never know what you might get (but if you’re in the front row you might get wet).
Scheduled to appear: Coming soon. Festival founder Maggie Cassella (standup, TV host, neat freak) will host this all-star and future-star show.
Tickets are $300 a person or $3000 for a group of twelve and can be purchased online at http://wftwgala.bpt.me or by writing firstname.lastname@example.org (Tax receipts available in accordance with CRA rules and regulations).
Oh and there’s fun food too. It may not be fancy but it’s fun and yummy and there will be CUPCAKES! Rubber chickens reserved for the stage.
This year the Foundation is proud to be supporting the Two-Spirit Renewal Project at Shining Mountains Living Community in Red Deer, Alberta. Go here (scroll down to find this programme) to see where your gala ticket money goes because every penny from the gala this year goes directly to this programme.
Oh and don’t forget the festival is made possible ENTIRELY because of our sponsors. This year we are proud to welcome a first time sponsor SOKOLOFF LAWYERS who came on as PRESENTATION sponsor in their first year. And we welcome back our amazing GOLD SPONSORS Cineplex Media and BMO and our super generous SILVER SPONSOR, The P. Austin Family Foundation, and our super supportive MEDIA SPONSOR, The Comedy Network. Please, keep in mind while you’re enjoying the fest that it really is because of them that we’re here.
The We’re Funny That Way Festival is a fundraiser for the We’re Funny That Way Foundation which aims to give transformational gifts to queer charities across Canada.
The festival is produced pro bono by Ford Cassella Productions.
